The Parent Teacher Association of P.S. 221, The North Hills School, would like to wish everyone a safe and fun-filled summer vacation!!!!
Please note the following events & dates:
Monday, June 23rd our school will be having their class parties
Tuesday, June 24th our children will get to enjoy some tasty treats and fun games at our annual end of year school carnival
Wednesday, June 25th is Hawaiian Day-Don’t forget your leis and your floral shirts and grassy skirts!!!
Thursday, June 26th is a half day-Dismissal is at 11:30 a.m. It is the LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!

The last day of school will be here before we know it; many of us are getting ready for Stepping Up Ceremonies and Graduations but our Parent Teacher Association still has a few more events lined up for our kiddos so listen up:
- Friday, June 13th is our 2nd annual Dance-A-Thon Fundraiser!!! Make sure your kids are wearing their dancing shoes because it will be a day filled with groovy music, thirst-quenching drinks and lots of fun! Click on the link below to view the sponsor letter which will come home with your child; make sure you ask family and friends to help in this fundraiser- again all proceeds from the Dance-A-Thon will go to fund the various activities and programs that the PTA provides for our children during the school year!! We will need volunteers so make sure you have your dancing shoes on as well!!!

The end of the school year is quickly approaching and we need everyone to come out to our LAST General Board Meeting of the 2013-2014 school year!!! It will be held in the school cafeteria at 7 p.m. Child care is available for school aged children so bring them along if you cannot find a sitter. WE ARE HOLDING ELECTIONS for the 2014-2015 PTA Executive Board and School Leadership Team. IT IS NOT TO LATE TO JOIN THE PTA! The following seats are still open:
- Financial secretary
- Two VP fundraising
- One remaining year on an SLT (School Leadership Team) seat.

Today’s Little Neck-Douglaston Memorial Day parade was a huge success!! Students, staff members, parents, friends and families all marched together honoring our veterans and fallen heroes! Thank you to everyone who came out and supported this wonderful event today!
The Little Neck – Douglaston Memorial Day Parade is TODAY, May 26, 2014. P.S. 221 will be proudly marching and we encourage the entire P.S. 221 community to come march with our float! We need you there to wave your flags and show your spirit. We urge the entire P.S. 221 school community to meet us at 1:00 p.m. on the northeast corner of Nassau Road and Northern Blvd. Students are invited to wear their P.S. 221 Blue Ribbon t-shirts and red, white and blue! The parade lasts for 1.5 hours.

Thank You to all of our volunteers who made this year’s annual International Food Fair an enormous success!!!
We had mouth watering dishes from all over the world and it was an experience that our students will savor for a long time!
The dedication from our parent community to our students and our school is eminent in our volunteers who continue to support us. Thank you for participating in the event and for setting up and clean up, by taking the time to cook and send in dishes for the fair and by donating funds to help sponsor the fair. Your support is fully acknowledged and we are very grateful!

It’s that time of the year again where the students, staff and administration all look forward to our biggest and tastiest event yet-The International Food Fair!!! We need to come together as a parent community, as we do so many times in P.S. 221, and help make this fundraiser the biggest and most successful yet!
To make this event a fabulous one we ask that you do one or more items below:
- Donate trays of food from your country of origin
- Reach out to your favorite restaurants and ask them to donate a food item to the event
- Volunteer your time to help set up, clean up or work a table of your choice during the one day event
- Make a monetary donation to help the organizers of this event purchase food and/or drink items.

In the past we have had many countries participate such as Greece, China, Korea, India, Italy, etc.
Please note that even if you do not want to lead a table but still want to send in food from your country of origin you are more then welcome to and we would appreciate it very much. We will find a table for your food item and we will take care of everything.
